Smudging is an ancient ritual using the smoke of  burning plant material, typically, Palo Santo, Sweetgrass and Sage, to cleanse a place, person, or object of negative energy. The short answer is no. This is a common misconception because there are two tree species referred to as “palo santo”, and one of those species (Bulnesia sarmentoi) is considered endangered. The other species (Bursera graveolens) is the kind we sell and is not endangered. You can learn more below:
